While in Punta Cana, La Altagracia, Dominican Republic, for the National Builder Meeting, Ceco took the opportunity to give back to the local community by visiting an orphanage about an hour outside of the city.

Lorandus, Ceco’s logistics company connected Ceco volunteers with the Fundación Un Mundo Mejor Para La Niñez Desamparada (The Better World Foundation for Forsaken Children). The Better World Foundation is an orphanage in Higuey that houses and schools boys from ages five to fourteen.

“Our team was so humbled and grateful by the experience we had with these boys,” says Ceco President Tim Schrock. “Oftentimes we get caught up in work and our everyday lives, and we don’t take the time to step back and see what others need. I know that both the boys at the orphanage and the Ceco team enjoyed their time together.”

Ceco volunteers assembled and delivered care packages to the boys. The packages included basic goods like food, clothing, hygiene products and school supplies. The children spent the day with Ceco employees playing games, singing songs, laughing and conversing.

Ceco wishes to continue establishing a legacy of giving and service by building strong, safe communities through social outreach activities.

“This won’t be the last time we do something like this,” Schrock said. “It is an important part of who we are. We had a number of our Builders express how they would like to be a part of that the next time, so we plan to invite them to join us in the future.”
